About Christopher Dupey

Just begun my online tutoring journey but have taught GCSE one to one and in small groups all my professional career as well as being a classroom teacher.
I enjoy the process of learning and teaching pupils and tutees to actually learn to learn rather than just cram. if you know something, you don’t ever need to remember it word for word, you just need to remind yourself, which is a whole different ball game to endlessly cramming facts, figures, dates, and processes.
my tutorials will involve
1) recall – past learning and use it
2) shaping – the learning for the session with explanation, resources, and question and answer sessions.
3) independent learning and tasks – using the knowledge to answer questions, analyse data and make links.
4) further practise, reading and assessed independent work.
5) answer analysis and reflecting on learning.

This is all performed as weekly cycle and supports, encourages and promotes learning and knowledge retention

There will also be particular focus on GCSE questions and how to answer to get the top marks.

Where did your interest in GCSE tutoring begin?

I have been a classroom teacher for 18 years and in that time I have seen first hand the benefits and opportunities that can be gained by pupils through one to one tutoring. through a school holidays I have Always done extra one to one or small group tutoring, so I see this as a natural progression.

What was it about your teaching subject that led you to online GCSE tutoring?

The benefits of online tutoring for all humanities subjects is huge and tangible because they all require using the key knowledge to explain concepts and make judgements. that is a skill and needs to be taught and repeated and recalled and practiced again. that should happen in a classroom setting but sometimes doesn’t due to time and curriculum restraints. online tutoring provides the opportunity, Skills practice and resources to undertake that vital practise, providing tailored feedback and critical analysis to improve grades.

When choosing a tutor for GCSE, what qualities should a good tutor have?

They should be charismatic, organised, knowledgeable, experienced, skilled and personable.

How beneficial can a private tutor be when studying for GCSE?

Extremely beneficial. a tutor can clear confusion, unlock knowledge and help provide confidence and learning skills that will benefit the student far beyond GCSE’s, A Levels, University and/or work.

What support do you provide as a GCSE Tutor?

Vast experience of Exams Syllabus and marking for exam boards. personalised resources and conversations. critical analysis of Answers and next steps. time, dedication, honesty and effort.
