Find out more about Jim

Where did your interest in GCSE tutoring begin?

My interest first began after I decided to pursue 1-1 teaching after taking a break from the classroom. I have always enjoyed teaching but I found it incredibly engaging to be able to help students progress at an individual level, and cater to the exact needs of my students.

What was it about your teaching subject that led you to online GCSE tutoring?

I love the wealth of resources available when teaching online and the flexibility this allows for my students. We can easily move from mock exams to example answers, and it adds lots of dynamic change to tutoring sessions.

When choosing a tutor for GCSE, what qualities should a good tutor have?

?: A good tutor should have a key grounding in the examinations their students are taking, and the best approaches for students to excel at that paper. Also, their subject knowledge should be superb to deliver the best sessions for their tutees. An understanding of the individual students' needs is also vital, so that the tutor can use effective planning and approaches to help their students get the most out of sessions.

How beneficial can a private tutor be when studying for GCSE?

?: Having a private tutor can be massively beneficial because of the individualized learning that can take place, especially when it comes to GCSE. Often, classroom teaching can leave students adrift because they will cover a topic generally, whereas tutoring can zone in on the areas in which a student most wants to improve.

What support do you provide as a GCSE Tutor?

As a GCSE tutor, I provide support in all aspects of the examination - question formats, the best way to maximize marks and the areas that students wants to focus on the most.
