About Steven

I have over 20 years of experience tutoring Mathematics on a one to one basis, with a 100% pass rate. I am deeply passionate about tutoring and helping others to succeed. Since the Covid pandemic I have been tutoring students online via the online webinar software zoom. In terms of my approach to tutoring, I am very easy going and find that this is the best approach to take with students in order to build a good rapport. I conduct an initial assessment first in order to ascertain where the student is academically. From there I develop a personalised learning plan, then progress through this on a week by week basis.

Where did your interest in GCSE tutoring begin?

I began teaching my next door neighbour Mathematics back in 1998. From there I discovered that I really had a talent for tutoring as I managed to make a difference, bringing her up by two grades. I started my professional tutoring career 20 years ago, and have had huge success. For the past few years I have managed to achieve a 100% pass rate.

What was it about your teaching subject that led you to online GCSE tutoring?

The Covid pandemic. I discovered that teaching online was preferable as It was far more efficient.

When choosing a tutor for GCSE, what qualities should a good tutor have?

A good tutor should be patient, calm and understanding. They should be able to impart their knowledge in an easy to understand way that is accessible to all.

How beneficial can a private tutor be when studying for GCSE?

A private tutor can make all the difference. Often a student when having private tuition can move up by as much as two grades.

What support do you provide as a GCSE Tutor?

I offer full support to my students, offering free video tutorials that I have made so that students can refer to these outside of my lessons to refresh their memory when needed.
